Is Colombia a safe country to visit for an American citizen?

Yes and No, The bigger cities are generally safe. Bogota, Medellin, Cartagena, Baranquilla, Santa Marta, Villavicencio, Melgar. I didnt include Cali because it is suffering from some unrest. Cucuta is also safe. Choco is not safe nor is Huila. Leticia is kind of safe. Be smart and ask at your hotel. Colombia is beautiful and there is much to see. I go all the time but I do try to be careful.
